First and foremost, I am a mom.
That is what my life is all about, and I love it! I am just a regular mom though. I don’t have the secret to keeping your home clean and clutter free. I don’t have the best recipe for banana bread, and I don’t have my life together. Some weeks are better than others. Sometimes I am on top of it as far as meal planning and getting chores done. Some weeks, I look at the clock, realize that it’s 5pm, and I have no idea what to feed everyone?!
Who would have thought that feeding everyone everyday would be the worst part of being an adult?!?
I’m a “routine” mom.
During the school year, we do the same thing, same time, and everyday. I get odd looks or reactions to the fact that my children are in bed by 7pm. It’s what works for us though. They are up for the day by 6am, so going to bed at 7 assures me that they are getting enough rest before school. They thrive on the normalcy, and so do I.
My kids are 6 and 9 and they have regular chores. I am a firm believer that giving them structure, and a routine, will make them responsible humans. Yes, they still get to play, and probably spend too much time watch TV or playing video games, but it’s all about balance.
A friend of mine had asked me what I do for myself? What do I do that’s just mine? Not for my husband, not for my kids, but just for me? What am I passionate about?…
…I had nothing. Every part of my day is about serving others.
I tried to get up early in the morning and do yoga. That worked until the winter came and it was just easier staying warm and cozy in bed. I tried looking up Pinterest recipes thinking that I will just cook different things all the time, and get us into different foods. That was a no go! Once I looked at the different ingredients, ones that weren’t staples in the house, I got too lazy about that. I don’t have enough time in my day, or the energy to plan different meals and make sure I had all that was necessary.
So what about blogging?
While yes, I am just a normal mom, like all other moms out there… I have a different story to tell. A story about navigating motherhood with a “special needs” child, and a child who so wishes she also had those special needs. Maybe my story will help another mom that is in a similar boat as me? Maybe telling the world about how my motherhood journey has gone will help me? So here I am, trying to find my passion through blogging.
Here is a little glimpse into my life.
I hope you enjoy, and I hope it inspires or helps you out in some way! Welcome to my life!
You are an amazing mom, Courtney! I always wished you could share your intuitive, logical , no-nonsense parenting skills with some of the other moms we both know. Good luck and bless you all! Xoxo
